Local Librarians Receive Medical Library Association Specialization Certification

On March 28th, eleven Hampton Roads area librarians and library admin-ajaxworkers attended two classes at the Brickell Library and renewed their certification from the Medical Library Association’s  Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS). The classes were Virginia’s Healthy Heroes: Consumer Health Resources for US Active Duty, Veterans and Their Families and Label Me Sherlock: Investigating Nutrition Facts and Health Claims on Consumer Packaged Goods.  Since 2009 eighty-eight area librarians and library workers have received certification through the Brickell Library.  To learn more about the Medical Library Association’s Consumer Health Information Specialization for Non-Health Librarians Level 1 Certification visit http://www.mlanet.org/education/chc/#2.
